Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein confirmed on Wednesday, that the Iranian ambassador to Iraq will be summoned tomorrow with a handed protest note.
Summoning the Iranian Ambassador is for a handed protest note against the background of the Iranian bombing of the Kurdistan region, as FM Hussein noted that “the Security Council's investigations into the Turkish bombing are still ongoing.”
“Our duty is to defend Iraqi sovereignty, the Iraqi citizen and the land of Iraq by all means, excepting violence," said Hussein said during a meeting at Al-Rafidain Forum, held in Baghdad and attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
He pointed out that, "Foreign policy expresses domestic policies at a high rate. Internal problems weaken our abroad positions."
“The relations between some politicians with some countries are not in the interest of Iraq. What we need is the Iraqi politicians' support for the Iraqi state's foreign policy,” he highlighted.
FM Hussien explained that Iraq's sovereignty has been violated since 1991 by international resolutions, noting that "the Islamic Republic of Iran or Turkey has no right to bomb Iraqi lands or have their armies entering to defend themselves against the armed parties present in Iraq."
"Iraq has a problem with the Kurdistan Workers' Party, which is considered an armed Turkish party. This party, when it moved to Iraq, created a problem for the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan government," Hussein explained.
He included, saying "We went to the Security Council and filed a complaint regarding the Turkish bombing of Zakho. The investigations in the Security Council are still ongoing."
