Hussain: The government is interested in developing relations with the GCC countries

    Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein confirmed today, Friday, that the government is interested in developing relations with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

    The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Nayef Falah Al-Hajraf, on the sidelines of the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly at its 77th session held in New York, and the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between cooperation Council and the Republic of Iraq.

    The minister stressed, according to the statement, that "the government is interested in developing relations with the GCC countries at all levels," expressing "his thanks and appreciation to the Secretary-General for continuing the serious work in the field of economic support and linking energy that contributes to improving the conditions of the Iraqi people and advancing the Iraqi economy.".

    MOFA indicated that "Iraq is a promising and safe investment environment," calling on investment companies to "work in Iraq in the field of infrastructure." According to the statement, the Minister briefed the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf on the latest developments in the Iraqi political situation, and the official political movement on the formation of the new government, and they discussed A number of regional and international issues of common interest, especially the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war on food security, and the need to work collectively to confront the possible repercussions of the crisis in its various economic and social dimensions.

    For his part, Al-Hajraf affirmed the "Cooperation Council's support for the security and stability of Iraq," stressing "the Gulf countries' keenness to advance Gulf-Iraqi relations in the service of common interests."
