Kirkuk..a plan to rehabilitate forests and increase green spaces

     Kirkuk Governorate announced the details of a plan to rehabilitate forests and increase and sustain green spaces, while stressing the importance of spreading the culture of afforestation and planting flowers throughout the governorate.

    The governor of Kirkuk, Rakan Saeed al-Jubouri, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "After the reconstruction campaign that the province witnessed, including the rehabilitation of roads and street coverings, we directed to increase and sustain green spaces and to secure the necessary irrigation to ensure their preservation and appearance in a way that gives an aesthetic to the city, with roads and projects that Accomplished during the last period,” noting that “this includes the forests in Altun Bridge, Al Daleel, Hawija, Riyadh and Daquq.”

    Al-Jubouri added, "The plan that was developed includes the green areas adjacent to the Hawally Road, the intermediate station, the Arafa tunnel, the Corniche and other projects, afforestation and maintenance, and ensuring their preservation and permanence, to be appropriate and attract the citizens of Kirkuk visiting it."

    He stressed, "The administration of Kirkuk is following up efforts to implement projects and the importance of green spaces and provides the necessary support for their success," stressing "the importance of spreading the culture of afforestation and flower cultivation and the contribution of elites, personalities, scholars, clerics and the media to support the culture of afforestation and the cleanliness of the city in a way that enhances its civilized position and contributes to supporting the protection and safety of the environment in Kirkuk".
