A new study revealed, today, Saturday, that vitamin D supplements relieve symptoms of depression.
A new analysis of a large group of previous studies published by a medical website and including the latest developments in a new study said that “vitamin D supplements relieve symptoms of depression and the effectiveness of antidepressant treatments is often insufficient, so scientists are looking for other ways to relieve it, especially in the field of research.”.
The new research was based on dozens of studies conducted around the world, and they were statistically re-analyzed, including 41 studies conducted outside Europe and the United States.
The results, published by the "Medical Express" website, showed that taking between 50 and 100 micrograms a day of vitamin D greatly helps to relieve symptoms of depression.
"These findings will encourage new, high-level clinical trials in depressed patients to shed more light on the potential role of vitamin D supplementation in symptom relief," said study lead author Thomas Mikkola of the Institute of Clinical Medicine at the University of Eastern Finland.
