The iconic sports commentator and Sheikh of commentators Moayad Al-Badri died on Saturday, at the age of 88.
Moayad Abdul Majeed Al-Badri, born in 1934, is an iconic of Iraqi football, presenter and sports commentator, born in Baghdad, Adhamiya district, Al-Safina district.
Al-Badri learned to read and write in al-Katatib before entering primary school, after which he studied at Adhamiya High School in Baghdad, graduating in 1953, then joined the Higher Institute of Physical Education at the University of Baghdad in 1954, graduating in 1957.
He received a scholarship to the United States, and there he obtained a bachelor's degree and then a master's degree in Mathematical Sciences. He is the first Iraqi sports commentator, Al-Badri retired from professional work in the year 1993.
Al-Badri worked in the press and he was an editor in the Iraqi Cinema magazine, the Sports News Department, and was the editor-in-chief of Al-Malaeb newspaper.
Al-Badri held several positions, including treasurer of the Iraqi Football Association, director general of school sports 1962-1984, director of sports in the Ministry of Youth 1962-1984, professor at the College of Physical Education, University of Baghdad, secretary of the Iraqi Football Association 1970-1977, and president of the Iraqi Football Association in 1977 , 1980 and 1988.
