PM’s advisor: 5 major international companies will supervise the Ring Road project

    Advisor to the Prime Minister for Construction and Housing Affairs, Sabah Abdul Latif Mushtat, revealed today, Thursday, new details about the ring road project in the capital, Baghdad, and while he announced that 5 major international companies would be selected to supervise its implementation, he set the project's objectives.

    Mushtat told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "during this month, the advisory body supervising the implementation of the ring road project will be selected through 5 major international companies with long experience in global highways.".

    He added, "The Roads and Bridges Department in the Ministry of Construction and Housing has been assigned to nominate these companies, as they have experience in this field, and after selection, the Higher Committee will follow up on the terms of signing the contract.".

    He pointed out that "the Higher Committee for Supervising the Ring Road project, which was formed in the Cabinet Office under my chairmanship and with the membership of all the parties concerned with implementing this project, consists of the Baghdad Municipality, the Baghdad Governorate, roads, bridges, agricultural lands and real estate registration," noting that "the consultative requirements required from the authority were identified.".

    He explained, "The financial allocations were included in the budget with regard to the cost of the consulting study, and after the advisory body prepares the feasibility study, the final path and proposals to solve the problem of acquisitions and the stages in which the annual roads will be implemented in stages, the most important stage that will solve the biggest problem will be started."
    He concluded by saying, "One of the most important objectives of the ring road is to regulate the movement of load wheels and vehicles coming from the provinces, and not to pass them in the capital, Baghdad."
