Launching an initiative to revitalize the Arab Communication Group, MOFA reporters

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced on Wednesday, the launch of an initiative to revitalize the Arab Communication Group, while noting that the tripartite coordination is a dedication to collective initiatives and is not directed against any party.

    The ministry’s spokesman, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): " MOFA takes its role with the group of Arab Communication countries that was formed during the start of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and its repercussions on multiple files, including the two files of energy and global food security."

    Al-Sahaf added, " there was an initiative by the Arab Communication Group following their visit to Moscow and then to Warsaw, where they met the Russian Foreign Minister as well as the Ukrainian Foreign Minister to  submit Arab initiative that contained the importance of dialogue and adopting diplomatic means and reach consensus that would strengthen international security".

    He pointed out that "the Minister of Foreign Affairs recently participated in a conference with the foreign ministers of the Arab Contact Group and called, during his participation, for an Iraqi initiative to revitalize the Arab Communication Group and the importance of taking the initiative again to present a dialogue path enhanced by possible mechanisms to reduce the current escalation."

    Regarding the visit of Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Egypt Sameh Shukri to Baghdad, Al-Sahaf stated that “the two ministers met with the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister, as well as the Speaker of Parliament, and they discussed relations at the bilateral level and at the level of coordination between Baghdad, Amman and Cairo, including the projects of  the joint industrial zone between Iraq and Jordan and the electrical power linkage, in addition to other projects that have been discussed."
     

    Al-Sahaf indicated that "Iraq is now an important party within these dialogues, and within today's dialogues, the importance of relations between Iraq, Egypt and Jordan and the continuation of meetings were devoted to alleviating burdens within the framework of Iraqi diplomatic openness and dedication to the security and interests of Iraq."
