Iraq and Iran agree to reach a solution on gas supplies

    Iraqi Minister of Electricity Adel Karim and the Iranian Minister of Oil Javad Oji agreed on Wednesday, to reach satisfactory solutions regarding gas supplies.

    "The Minister of Electricity, Adel Karim, met on Wednesday, with the Iranian Oil Minister, Javad Oji, in the Iranian capital, Tehran to discuss the development and consolidation of relations in the field of energy, and to equip the Ministry of Electricity with the necessary gas to operate power plants in preparation for the summer of 2022," said the Ministry of Electricity in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

    "The meeting was characterized by a positive atmosphere, as the discussions between the two were productive to a large extent, considering the strong points of the Minister of Electricity, which the Iranian side understood for the urgent generative need imposed by the nature of the extremist Iraqi atmosphere, which is causing an increase in demand for electric power," the ministry added.

    The statement included that "the two parties agreed to reach mutual satisfactory solutions regarding legal obligations and prices, and to pay the values of supplied fuel, according to a mechanism that ensures the flow of processing during 2022."
