The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hakim Al-Zamili, called today, Monday, to amend the investment law as soon as possible.

    The media office of the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, received in his office today, the Chairman of the Investment Authority, Suha Daoud Najar," noting that "obstacles were discussed and problems facing the investment process were discussed and identified and mechanisms for its advancement".

     

    Al-Zamili explained, according to the statement, that "the investment sector is currently one of the best global economic sectors, and countries attach the utmost importance to advancing its economy," noting that "investment is the key to achieving sustainable development."

     

    He stressed "the necessity of making the needed updates to the investment law," calling "the authority to start preparing a draft of the amendments and coordinating with the competent parliamentary committees."

     

    Al-Zamili called on the authority to "prepare a clear strategy and vision for the development of this important sector in a way that contributes to facilitating the investor's entry and work inside the country."

     

    For her part, the head of the Investment Commission, Suha Daoud Najar, confirmed that "the commission is in the process of completing a new investment map that includes all the governorates of Iraq," noting "to move towards activating coordination with the authorities related to the investment project with the aim of expediting approvals, granting licenses and allocating land."
