Head of the International Football Association, Gianni Infantino stated on Saturday, that transferring Iraq’s match against the Emirates in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers from Baghdad was an unexpected matter.
Minister of Youth and Sports, Head of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal met Infantino, in the Qatari capital, Doha, on the sidelines of the International Federation conference 72nd, according to a statement by the Federation, received by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
Infantino confirmed his "support for the Iraqi Federation for the game," noting that "the transfer of his match against UAE in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers from Baghdad was an unexpected emergency,"
During the meeting, Infantino indicated "his keenness to support the march of Iraqi football and to work in the coming period to develop its working committees, including affirming his right to host official and friendly competitions in the stadiums of Iraqi cities,"
"The next move by the International Federation will be to upgrade all aspects of support for Iraqi football," he adeed.
In turn, Darjal praised Infantino's supportive stance for the Iraqi football, as he affirmed Iraq's ability to host international and friendly matches.
