Immigration: A report will be submitted next month to limit illegal immigration

    The Ministry of Migration and Displacement revealed, on Friday, its steps to limit illegal immigration, while setting a date for the release of the final report of the Supreme National Committee to Limit Immigration.
     
    The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Migration, Karim Al-Nouri, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "The ministry has taken several steps to limit illegal immigration, including drafting a law currently in coordination with the relevant authorities in the State Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister's Office, and some organizations to help enact a law to limit illegal immigration," noting that "the ministry will work to complete this law and submit it to the Council of Ministers for voting, and then send it to the House of Representatives."
     
    He explained that "this law will determine the relevant authorities, steps, mechanisms, and tasks of each authority, and the penalties that the state will take in the event that some people smuggle migrants."
     
    He pointed out that "the National Supreme Committee for Combating Illegal Immigration was formed, headed by the Minister of Migration and Displacement, and approximately 68 members, including advisors, general managers, and officials responsible for this issue," noting that "the committee held its fourth meeting and took several steps, including awareness and rehabilitation programs with publications on the ministries' websites and publications that will be published in garages and billboards in Baghdad Municipality and the governorates."
     
    Al-Nouri added that "the Ministry of Higher Education circulated a letter to the concerned parties, including 40 government university and institutions, and created a special group for this campaign that bears the slogan (Your dignity is in your country, no to illegal immigration)", noting that "there are procedures that the Ministry of Migration is working on according to the plan approved by the Council of Ministers, which is the national plan to combat illegal immigration and is following up with the ministries, and internal and external steps have been taken, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Intelligence Service, and the Ministry of Interior have been assigned to provide the ministry with reports, studies, information, and statistics on Iraqis who have been subjected to illegal immigration."
