Iraq: Concluding the Iraqi-Jordanian Economic City procedures

    INA - BAGHDAD

    Ministry of Industry and Minerals announced on Wednesday, concluding the Economic City procedures between Iraq and Jordan, while noting that USID has conducted a comprehensive study of the project.

    ”All the procedures for the economic city between Iraq and Jordan have been concluded and a land has been allocated for the Industrial Cities Commission," said the industry media office in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    The statement included that ”USID has prepared a study to find out the feasibility of the project so that it can be presented as investment opportunities,”

    The aim of it is to establish a joint development zone that includes an industrial city and a free and logistical area to activate and develop joint Arab economic cooperation by attracting capital, investments and job opportunities, in addition to activating the role of the accompanying sectors such as transport and services. This development area will be supported by the Iraqi and Jordanian governments to facilitate the success of this city, which is in the interest of the Iraqi and Jordanian peoples, according to the statement. 

    ”Goods manufactured in this region are of multiple origin to facilitate their entry into the Iraqi market and their export to global markets by benefiting from trade agreements between Jordan and other countries, in addition to benefiting from the agreement to simplify the rules of origin,” as mentioned in the statement.
