London: We will not lift our sanctions against Russian businessmen

British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has announced that London will not lift sanctions previously imposed on Russian businessmen.
 
“It’s very difficult to lift sanctions. These big businessmen [Russian President Vladimir Putin] let him do what he did,” he told The Times.

Against the backdrop of Russia’s recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Britain had previously imposed a series of sanctions on a number of Russian banks and Russian businessmen. It then expanded its sanctions as Russian forces began a special military operation in Ukraine.
 
The foundation said Britain’s sanctions currently cover more than 1,000 Russian individuals and organizations. Accordingly, a large number of Russian politicians, officials and businessmen are blocked from entering the UK, and sanctions require freezing their accounts in the country.
