Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed with his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis the latest developments in the Ukrainian-Russian war.
The ministry stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein received a phone call from his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis, and during the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, the effects of the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, and its repercussions on the humanitarian level, international security, as well as its great economic effects on the countries of the world, including Iraq.
According to the statement, the minister expressed Iraq's concern about developments between Russia and Ukraine, the deterioration of the humanitarian situation there, and the importance of resorting to more dialogues that would defuse the crisis, stop the fighting and preserve security in the region and its peoples.
The statement continued, "The two ministers also discussed the issue of Iraqi asylum seekers in Lithuania and how to deal with this humanitarian situation and settle their situation.
For his part, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister presented his government's viewpoint on the ongoing war and its political, economic and humanitarian repercussions.
