Anxiety began to prevail in the world, fearing the emergence of a new wave of the emerging Corona virus, especially after recording an increase in the number of infections in several countries, most notably China, South Korea and countries in Western Europe .
The “Washington Post”, stated that “the high number of infections with the Corona virus in Western Europe and other countries has made experts and health authorities in the United States on alert for another wave of the pandemic.”
South Korea recorded another daily record of deaths from COVID-19 on Thursday; While health officials announced more than 621,000 new infections .
Two days ago, China recorded 5,280 new infections with the Corona virus, according to what the National Health Committee announced in a daily toll that is the highest in two years .
Germany also saw more than 250,000 new cases and 249 deaths on Friday, which made the Minister of Health describe the situation in the country as critical.
The "Washington Post" also explained that "infectious disease experts are closely monitoring the sub-strain of the Omicron mutant, known as "BA.2" , which appears to be more transmissible and spread compared to the original strain "BA.1".
It is not yet clear how many people will develop serious complications and how this will affect hospitals and health care systems .
"So far, the mutant has spread to at least 12 countries, from Finland to Greece...There is no doubt that there is a big wave," said Eric Topol, director of the Scripps Research Institute in San Diego in the United States.
Earlier, experts criticized the governments of countries for sending the wrong message to their citizens by easing restrictions and precautionary measures and indicating that the world was preparing to turn the page on Corona.
