Plasschaert urges the international community to return IDPs to their countries from Al-Hol camp

    National Security Adviser Qassem Al-Araji stressed today the importance of the international community being present in the Al-Hol camp issue.

    A statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "Al-Araji received in his office today, Thursday, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jeanine Plasschaert." 

    According to the statement, Plasschaert referred to her briefing at the UN Security Council, in which she considered Iraq an example to be followed by the international community, in appreciation of its efforts to return its nationals from al-Hol camp, stressing the importance of urging the international community to return countries to their nationals from the Syrian al-Hol camp. .

    He added, "The meeting reviewed the political and security situation at the international and regional levels, and discussed the files of Al-Hol and Sinjar camp, as well as ways to support international organizations to provide humanitarian aid." 

    For his part, al-Araji stressed "the importance of the international community being present in the issue of al-Hol camp, stressing that it is in the interest of the UN mission in Iraq to go to al-Hol camp and see on the ground the conditions of the camp and the displaced."
