The Directorate General of Intelligence and Security (DGIS) announced today, Saturday, the arrest of 8 wanted persons for terrorism, kidnapping, drug and human trafficking in Baghdad.
The Directorate stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "under the direction and supervision of the Minister of Defense, Thabet Al-Abbasi, as part of the continuation of implementing qualitative operations by the heroes of the General Directorate of Intelligence and Security at the Ministry of Defense and with separate duties carried out by the detachments of the Baghdad Intelligence and Security Directorate in various areas of the capital, which resulted in the arrest of an accused wanted by the judiciary in accordance with the provisions of Article 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law."
It pointed out that "the heroes of the directorate were able to free a kidnapped person and arrest three suspects who carried out the kidnapping, and its field detachments were able to arrest four drug dealers red-handed and another for human trafficking."
The statement added that "various narcotic substances and drug paraphernalia were found in their possession, and arrest warrants were issued against them in accordance with the provisions of Articles (28 Narcotics, 6 First Human Trafficking)", indicating that "legal action was taken against them and they were referred to the competent authorities."
