The Minister of Transportation, Razzaq Muhibis al-Saadawi, confirmed on Monday that the development road will include industrial cities along its path to Turkey, while pointing out that Al-Faw will be the largest industrial city in the Middle East.

Speaking to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Saadawi described the Development Road project as a pivotal economic and strategic initiative.

"Today, we convened with both the executive and technical teams overseeing the project to review its progress," he said, highlighting that the preliminary designs for the road have been completed, with a 100% completion rate. As for the construction milestones, he noted that the railway component of the project is 69% complete, while the land road segment has reached 61% completion.

Al-Saadawi reiterated the government's commitment to advancing the project, stating, "We are working tirelessly, around the clock, to ensure the Development Road is completed on schedule." He also underscored the project's potential to create significant employment opportunities, with at least 20,000 jobs expected to be generated, which will have a positive impact on the Iraqi workforce, particularly the nation's youth.

“The Development Road is not merely a railway and road network, as some may assume. It is a comprehensive economic project,” he explained. "Industrial cities will be established along the route, from Al-Faw to Turkey, providing thousands of job opportunities and fostering regional economic development."

Al-Saadawi also outlined the transformative potential of the Al-Faw area, stating, "Al-Faw will emerge as the largest industrial city in the Middle East, with integrated economic, residential, and tourism sectors poised for growth."
