The First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Hakim Al-Zamili, called for the necessity of activating the outcomes of the Iraq Reconstruction Conference held in Kuwait.
The media office of the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Al-Zamili received in his office the Kuwaiti ambassador to Iraq, Salem Al-Zamanan."
Al-Zamili said, according to the statement, that "everyone is optimistic about the solid and strong relations between Iraq and Kuwait, especially after closing the abhorrent file of compensation caused by the policies of the former dictatorial regime, and the Iraqi people will bear its burdens," stressing that "after closing this file, the governments of the two countries must start to launch towards opening a new page and keenness on consolidating the good relationship on the basis of cooperation and mutual respect, in the service of the two brotherly peoples.
He pointed out that "the basis of the relationship between the two countries should be built according to the principle of good neighborliness, good intentions, and a balanced policy away from offensive statements that try to disturb the relationship between the two neighboring countries," calling for "the importance of activating the outcomes of the international conference on the reconstruction of Iraq held in Kuwait in 2018, and urged countries to fulfill its commitments, as well as activating investment frameworks, accelerating the project of creating joint industrial and commercial free zones between the two sides, and the necessary coordination between the security services of both countries regarding the border control process.
