Defense Minister Juma Anad said Wednesday that Iraq was seeking to establish a new phase in building the capabilities of its armed forces.
"The Fair provides access to the latest productions of the participating country from its military industries and to choose what is in line with the plans put in place and prepared in advance for the development of the military system," Anad said at the opening of the security and defense exhibition, which was attended by a reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"Development will play a major role in achieving the ministry's work to provide security throughout Iraq, which is the main objective sought by the forces," he said.
"Security is the key to build the country, as stability opens the doors to investment, construction and reconstruction, resulting in job opportunities for the people of the country," he said.
"The Security and Defense Fair encourages national industries and productions and efforts to rise to the level of ambition," he said, praising "all the workers who have made efforts to hold the Fair on time, as well as all countries and companies participating in this carnival and the united company organizing the exhibition."
