Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant-General Abdul-Amir Al-Shammari confirmed on Monday, that the security situation in Sinjar is appropriate for the return of the IDPs to home.
"The situation in Sinjar is appropriate for the return of the IDPs," noting that "the situation is stable with clear control by the security forces on the border sites," said Al-Shammari in a statement issued after an inspection tour he conducted in Sinjar, a statement which was received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The statement included that "a state of security stability is experienced in urban areas, with the army and police forces controlling security in those areas,"
