Cabinet General Secretariat clarified on Wednesday, the most important files that will be discussed in the International Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations - FAO, which is scheduled to be held in the middle of next week, confirming the discussion of 3 files related to Iraq.
"Convening the FAO Conference in Baghdad confirms Iraq's return to its Arab, regional and international status, and the meeting will be within the 36th session of the organization and it will be attended by more than 30 countries at the ministerial level including Arab countries,” said the spokesman for the Cabinet General Secretariat, Haider Majid, to Al-Iraqiya News TV, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He added, "Today, the first participating delegation arrived in Baghdad to the Assistant Secretary-General of the Organization, and the conference will last for two days, 7-8 February, and its importance in Iraq is that it will discuss files related to firstly food, and secondly agriculture and the water file, as it will open horizons for cooperation and discussion with the riparian countries,"
"Within the plan set by the Ministries of Agriculture and Water Resources for the conference, there will be a discussion of the issue of Iraq's water quotas, and side discussions will be opened in this regard, especially with regard to the outstanding problems in the water file, and the Ministry of Resources has reached advanced stages to solve these problems with the Turkish side," he included.
Majid pointed out that, "the arrival of the Assistant Secretary-General of the organization aims to discuss the preparations and the agenda, as the files will not only concern Iraq, but all the countries attended,” as he praised the security aspect in Iraq, which now allows the establishment of international conferences in the country.
