Minister of Transport issues directive on Fao port

    Transport Minister Nasser al-Shabli issued on Sunday a directive on the Fao port project, while Daewoo Company set a date for the start of the construction of the shipping channel.
     

                  "Transport Minister Nasser al-Shabli met with the director of The Daewoo Korean Company, which implements the FAO port project," said a reporter for the Iraqi News Agency (INA), noting that, "Al-Shabli directed all government agencies to overcome obstacles to the work of the Korean company to speed up the pace of work at Fao port," he said.
     
    "Seeking to address the Ministry of Finance to pay the financial dues for drilling work as well as the completion of constructing related to the project," al-Shabli said, adding that "The Korean Company Daewoo is committed to the date of completion of this project."
     
    "The amounts allocated to the project are budgeted for this year," he said.
     
    For his part, the director of The Daewoo Company of Korea invited "the Minister of Transport to visit South Korea to meet with his Korean counterpart and discuss with officials to expand the prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of transportation."
     
    "At the beginning of next year, heavy equipment and large drilling machines will arrive to start digging the shipping channel," he said, adding that "the Ministry of Transport and the government will support the completion of the project by providing financial and logistical facilities to the company."
