Iraqi Football Association – IFA announced on Wednesday, dismissing the coach of the Iraqi National Team, Željko Petrović from his post.
"IFA held a meeting at its headquarters in the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports, the President of the Federation, Adnan Darjal, the First Deputy of the Federation, Ali Jabbar, the Second Deputy Younis Mahmoud, as well as members of the Executive Office where the meeting resulted in several decisions,” said IFA in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The statement included, "The decisions contained releasing the national team coach (Petrović) after extensive discussion of the team's negative results in the Asian qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and entrusting the task of coaching the national team to a local coach who will be named next week,"
"The formation of a committee with expertise and competence, comprising a group of academics, coaches and former players, to develop strategic plans aimed at improving the reality of the national teams," according to the statement.
