DMC calls for setting rules to protect security staffs

    The Digital Media Center called Sunday for setting digital codes of conduct in order to protect security personnel in Iraq.
     
    A statement of DMC received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "it is observed that dozens of security service personnel to go out live on the Tik Tok platform at different times of the day, which puts their lives and the lives of others at risk."
     
    The statement noted, "This broadcast may endanger the lives of the soldiers themselves in light of the escalation of operations launched by the Iraqi forces against the remnants of terrorist organizations in some provinces of Iraq."
     
    On the other hand, the statement continued, "Terrorist groups have cyber teams spread on many social media platforms and may benefit from broadcasts carried out by some elements of the security services by monitoring and analyzing military sites and thus causing losses to lives or property."
     
    It  added, "There is another danger that the videos that are broadcast contain personal information or information about the times or locations of military operations that may help the elements of terrorist organizations to steal and impersonate the identity of the members of the security services or endanger the lives of the families of these members."
     
    DMC urged, "those concerned in the Iraqi government to set rules of conduct to educate members of the security services about the danger that may afflict them as a result of the wrong use of social networking sites, and to determine the information that they can circulate, as well as to prevent the use of some information related to military movements, times of joining their official shifts, their locations, and other things. 
     
    The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasoul, said, according to the statement, "The Ministry of Defense assured its members not to film military duties or conduct direct broadcasts on social media, including Tik Tok, which causes damage to the conduct of security and counter-terrorism operations."

    Worth mentioning that, Digital Media Center – DMC is an independent, non-governmental center established in 2018, aiming at monitoring, following up and analyzing news related to social networking websites, instant messaging applications, tech companies updates, smart phones, digital marketing methods, highlighting. In addition to that, it aims at detecting and exposing posts, fake pages and false accounts on communication sites.
