Diyala Governor Muthanna Al-Tamimi revealed Friday the full details of the incident of the martyrdom of 11 soldiers, including an officer in Al-Adaim.
Al-Tamimi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The attack was carried out against members of the First Division in the Al-Adaim area, in the separating area with the borders of Salah al-Din Governorate," noting that "the main reason is the fighters' neglect in carrying out their duty, because the headquarters is completely fortified." There are thermal cameras, night-visors, and there is also a concrete watchtower."
He explained that "the commander of the First Division is at a high level of responsibility, but the terrorists took advantage of the cold weather and negligence in commitment to carry out the duties, which made the terrorists carry out their crime, and then withdrew to Salah al-Din," noting that "the governorate previously demanded, and is currently calling for the need to stop the infiltration of terroristsfrom Salah al-Din Governorate to Diyala, and an end to the 65-kilometer area of the border between the two governorates to prevent the infiltration of terrorists, because without that, such violations will continue.
He added that "the Iraqis are waging a global war against terrorism, which requires harnessing all the capabilities of the Ministry of Defense for technical issues and establishing a technical system of cameras, night-visors, to fortify the borders separating with Salah al-Din Governorate," stressing that "the security forces will carry out counter-operations, and operations are continuing against terrorist gangs.
