The Ministry of Health denied on Tuesday reporting new cases of Omicron in Baghdad yesterday, while warning of the seriousness of epidemiological developments and the apparent increase in infections.
"The Ministry of Health has not recorded any infections with Omicron, except for the official announcement," ministry spokesman Saif al-Badr told The Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"The ministry does not underestimate the seriousness of Omicron," he said, calling on everyone to "abide by the official sources of information."
"Everyone must abide by preventive measures, social spacing and vaccines," he said.
