The Ministry of Health denied recording any infection with Omicron mutant.
The ministry's spokesman, Saif Al-Badr, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that he "categorically denies what was raised in the media about registration of confirmed infections with the Omicron mutant in Iraq."
He explained that "the only body authorized to confirm whether or not infections are diagnosed is the Central Public Health Laboratory in Baghdad."
He pointed out that "despite the fact that the registration of infections with the new mutant is expected and possible, so far, no confirmed infection with this mutant has been recorded."
