Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani confirmed, on Monday, the government's interest in supporting Quran centers and encouraging and supporting state institutions to hold Quran memorization and recitation competitions.
The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani shared a Ramadan iftar banquet with a group of Quran memorizers from the Al-Mubarqa Foundation for Orphan Care."
"Al-Sudani congratulated the attendees on the occasion of the holy month, the celebration of the blessed Laylat al-Qadr, and good acts of worship." He praised and "proudly met this group of Quran memorizers from different age groups. Despite their social circumstances, they are at a stage of excellence and commitment to the guidance of the Holy Quran and its lofty principles."
Al-Sudani affirmed, according to the statement, "the government's interest in supporting Quranic centers and holding conferences, and encouraging and supporting state institutions to hold Quran memorization and recitation competitions." He also pointed out, "the opening of a special channel in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to support students who have memorized the Holy Quran."
