The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that no decision has been issued to prevent the reception of travelers from countries registered with Omicron mutant.
The Director of Information of the Aviation Authority, Jihad Al-Diwan, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Civil Aviation Authority is an executive institution that receives directives from the Supreme Committee for National Health and Safety and implements it".
He added, "So far, there is no decision to prevent the reception of travelers from countries that have recorded infections with the Omicron strain, whether they are neighboring or not".
The Ministry of Health had confirmed, earlier, that it had not recorded any infection with the Omicron mutant, while noting that Iraq's registration of infections with the new mutant is very likely.
The ministry's spokesman, Saif Al-Badr, said in a statement that "events are accelerating regarding the escalating developments regarding the new mutator and the measures taken in countries near and far from Iraq".
He added, "Iraq has not recorded any infection with the new mutation, although this matter may be very likely," stressing "the ministry's readiness to deal with this mutant".
