Baghdad - INA
The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, announced today, Friday, the dissolution of the formation of the (Promised Day Brigade).
Al-Sadr said in a tweet to him, seen by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "As a goodwill gesture from me (Muqtada Al-Sadr), I announced the dissolution of the formation of the (Promised Day Brigade) and closed their headquarters."
He added: "Were it not for the fact that they handed over their weapons to the former Peace Brigade, or what is currently called: Brigade 313, 314 and 315 in Samarra, I would have ordered them to hand over their weapons and they would have obeyed. They are still loyal to us and their homeland."
Al-Sadr continued: "they must hand him over within 48 hours, hoping that this step will be the beginning of dissolving the armed factions, handing over their weapons and closing their headquarters, and even be a message of safety and peace for all people."
Al-Sadr added: "The brigade official must implement this decision."
