The Ministry of Oil announced on Thursday, that the production of West Qurna-2 field has reached one billion barrels, while noting that Lukoil contributed to secure revenues for the Iraqi state.
Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar said in a press conference held on the occasion of the arrival of the production of West Qurna-2 field to one billion barrels, and was attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "This day is one of the most important days in the history of the oil industry, as Lukoil has a major role in the oil produced from West Qurna-2 field, according to the specifications".
Abdul-Jabbar added, "Lukoil contributed to secure revenues to the Iraqi state," noting that "the company was very patient with the limitations of OPEC and its development programs are evidence of its keenness."
He stressed that "the Al-Qurna-2 project provided sustainable development," adding that "there are many locals worked on the project."
Abdul-Jabbar continued, "The Ministry of Oil and Basra Oil are ready to cooperate, and we affirmed the government's seriousness and keenness for Lukoil to remain a key partner for Iraq."
