The Ministry of Water Resources revealed the latest developments in the file of water talks with Iran and Turkey, regarding to fears of a flood in Lake Razzaza affecting Karbala governorate.
Aoun Diab, a counselor to the Ministry of Water Resources, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "there is no information so far about a Turkish delegation's visit to Iraq to discuss the water file. We invited the Turkish side to visit the Mosul Dam, and a date for the visit has not been set yet."
He added, "Iraq also has a desire to meet with the Iranian side to resolve joint files on issue of water, but what seems to have delayed the issue is the holding of presidential elections in Iran and Parliament in Iraq. Technical discussions depend on existing institutions and specialists on both sides, and the decision-making is entrusted to diplomatic and political bodies.
