The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) confirmed Friday evening that the special voting process had not been violated and praised the turnout.
"The special ballot saw participation indicating the beginning of success in the legislative elections," Jalil Adnan, chairman of the Independent High Electoral Commission council, said at a press conference followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), adding that “no breaches or security violations have been recorded.”
"The president of the Council of Commissioners thanked the security forces, who performed their duty responsibly and voted to choose who to represent them," he said.
The Electoral Commission closed polling stations at 6 p.m. today, announcing the end of the special voting process.
