National Security Adviser Qassim Al-Araji and Syrian Ambassador Sattam Al-Dandah stressed the importance of controlling the common borders between the two countries.
Al-Araji received the Syrian ambassador, and during the meeting, they reviewed the political and security situation in the region, as they emphasized the importance of controlling the borders between the two countries and strengthening security cooperation between Baghdad and Damascus, in the field of counter-terrorism, in addition to preventing the infiltration of terrorists across the border, included a statement by the National Security Adviser, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Al-Araji conveyed to the Syrian ambassador that the Iraqi government and people welcomed the return of Syria's openness with some countries, as well as the opening of the "Jaber" border crossing between Syria and Jordan.
He also affirmed, "Iraq's keenness on Syria's return to the Arab League," expressing his hope that Syria will return to before the exceptional conditions it has been through, and witness more security and stability.
