The head of the Security Media Committee in Salah al-Din, Brigadier General Khamis Abed Bediwi, confirmed today, Monday that the security plan to protect polling stations is entering into force in the province.
Bedawi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The security plan to protect polling stations in Salah al-Din Governorate has entered into force, to protect 315 electoral centers throughout the province and districts."
He added that "All security forces have been deployed at polling stations and surrounded by three cordons, as well as all security, military and combat forces have entered full alert status and have been scrutinized by the High Committees overseeing the elections, under the supervision of the Chief of Security Committee, the Commander of Salahuddin Operations."
The elections will start in Iraq on the tenth of this month, amid strict security measures, and under the supervision of international and local monitoring to ensure the integrity of the elections.
Earlier, The Supreme Electoral Security Committee had confirmed that it has completed all its preparations to provide a safe and appropriate environment for voters and candidates, while providing protection for electoral centers and the boxes in warehouses of the logistical materials.
The Supreme Electoral Security Committee also indicated that "it has a plan to prevent the influence of uncontrolled weapons on the electoral process, and to protect candidates, voters and the places where elections are held."
