Head of the National Security Service Abdel-Ghani Al-Asadi ordered officers and employees of the National Security service on Tuesday, not to interfere in the electoral affairs, while noting that ISIS terrorist gangs are trying to exploit the vulnerable areas to affect the security situation.
Al-Asadi said in a statement issued after the conclusion of his visit to Nineveh province which is received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "my visit to the province comes within our field tours in the provinces in which we overviewed the security plan of the Service for securing polling stations," pointing out "the importance of taking a neutral side for all candidates in the elections and we directed to prevent officers and employees of the Service from interfering in political and electoral affairs, that the security officer should work for Iraq only, away from any affiliations."
He also stressed the need to "intensify the intelligence effort and go out to the street to search and monitor pre-emptive information that contributes to filling the security gaps that the enemy is trying to exploit," explaining that "ISIS terrorist gangs are trying to exploit vulnerable areas to affect the security situation, but our preparations are accurate in this aspect and we have put the final touches to the security of the elections."
He continued, "What is required of us as a security service is to work with double effort and bear the responsibility at the highest levels," explaining that "it is easy to reach the top, but it is difficult to maintain staying there, and we must maintain the good level and think about what is best."
