Electoral Commission prepares for third and final simulation

    The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) confirmed on Sunday, its readiness to conduct the third and final simulation on the 22nd of this month.
     
    IHEC said in a statement to Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "It is preparing to conduct the third and final simulation on the 22nd of this Month across Iraq with two stations in each of the 1079 registration centers of all the provinces, in the presence of the Korean manufacturer of electoral electronic devices, the German examining company, the United Nations Electoral Assistance Office and the International Electoral Systems Agency, as well as Cybersecurity.
     
    The commission added that “UNAMI team continues to follow up on the work of the electoral district offices to provide support, technical advice and visit their warehouses, to see the mechanism for storing logistics from sorting devices, electronic counting devices, verification devices, transmitters, boxes, etc., stressing the need to provide all preventive safety requirements.”
     
    "The Chairman of the Council of Commissioners, Judge Jalil Adnan Khalaf, has directed to form committees to follow the work of the electoral offices, as the logistics support team at the Commission inspects the electoral offices of provinces to see their readiness, to assess the work done there and to follow the alternative stores in order to receive internationally and locally equipped voting materials and complete all logistical preparations the electoral event," it said.
     
    The commission clarified that “The President of the Council of Commissioners participated in a meeting of the President of the Republic that was attended by the Prime Minister and the Special Representative of the Un Secretary-General in Iraq, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, and leaders and representatives of political forces, to sign the document of electoral conduct on the rules to be adhered to by Iraqi political parties during the electoral process.”
     
    "It decided not to allow all voters to carry smartphones when they enter the polling stations, in order to preserve the will of the voters and the confidentiality of their vote and choice," it said.
    In the other part, the commission confirmed that "The Board of Commissioners has agreed to return the amounts of money received as participation insurance from candidates who are not approved in the 2021 parliamentary elections because of deletion, exclusion and withdrawal, but does not include eligibility verification fees.”
     
    "The Electoral Commission will take the necessary legal action against anyone who violates the terms of the election campaigns and does not comply with the regulations and instructions issued by them," the board of commissioners said in the statement.
