The head of the National Security Service, Abdul-Ghani Al-Asadi, arrived in Basra province to oversee the plans for Arbaʽeen Pilgrimage and the polling stations.
NSS said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Asadi arrived in Basra to discuss strengthening security and intelligence cooperation with the security services and the local government in the province and to supervise the implementation stages of the plan for securing the path of the pilgrims and the polling stations.
