Independent High Electoral Commission – IHEC revealed on Monday, the contents of the electoral document of conduct.
"The electoral conduct document was developed in order to control the electoral process and organize electoral behavior that respects the freedom of all partner parties," said the Commission spokeswoman, Jumana Al-Ghalai, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Al-Ghalai explained that “the document was prepared in cooperation with the United Nations Electoral Assistance Team and the electoral conduct document is a code of honor that obligates not to violate any act that affects the integrity of the electoral process. The charter implicitly affirms adherence to the provisions of the law regulating elections and observing the rights of all candidates to compete during the electoral race,"
"The document also includes an emphasis on guaranteeing the rights of women and minorities in addition to respecting the results of the elections in a manner that is binding on all parties participating in the electoral process," she added.
She noted that "these contents came during the meeting of the President of the Republic with the Chairman and members of the Board of Commissioners, in the presence of the UN envoy, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert,"
During the meeting, the preparations of the Commission for the elections, including the electoral conduct document, were reviewed.
Earlier on Sunday, the Electoral Commission announced the preparation of an electoral conduct document in cooperation with the United Nations Electoral Assistance Team.
