Iraqi Airways issued a clarification regarding the incident of its bureau at Tehran International Airport.
"The management of the General Company for Iraqi Airways would like to draw the attention of public opinion to the incident of the Iraqi Airways bureau at Tehran Airport and the reactions of a number of travelers and owners of travel and tourism companies that are unjustified behaviors, especially since the management of the national carrier adheres to and applies all decisions issued by the Iraqi Cabinet and the recommendations of the Supreme Committee for National Health and Safety related to the transfer of tourist groups to and from Iraq,"
"The latest of which is the decision issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, dated 08/24/2021, which stipulates stopping the transportation of passengers except via the single way in the Ministry of Culture / Tourism Authority exclusively,”
This came according to an explanatory statement by the Aviation Authority, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
After the efforts made by the company's management to the concerned authorities, approval was obtained from the Tourism Authority to transfer passengers who obtained official approvals before the decree was issued, and the work of the previous decision will be extended to 23rd of September 2021, which will be the date for implementing the new decision.
The statement included that “accordingly, a special flight was carried out, which took off this evening, on Monday, 6th of September, 2021 on one of the company's large-capacity planes, from Baghdad International Airport to Tehran Airport to transport passengers,”
"The company's management would like to confirm that its direct flights from Iraq to Iran and vice versa will be limited to transporting passengers who have obtained official approvals,” added in the statement.
