Al-Sistani's office offers condolences on the passing of Qabalan

The office of His Eminence, the Supreme Religious Reference, Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani, issued today Sunday, a statement mourning the head of the

Supreme Islamic Shiite Council in Lebanon, Sheikh Abdul Amir Qabalan.

the statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated "We received with more sorrow and regret the news of the death of His Eminence, the scholar Hojjat al-Islam and the Muslims, Sheikh Abd al-Amir Qabalan (head of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council in Lebanon), whose pure soul overflowed to its creator after a lifetime full of giving in the path of religion and his homeland, striving to serve the people, fulfill their needs, and

reconcile themselves."

He added, "In this heartbreaking loss, we pay tribute to his generous family, the scholars, the gracious sheikhs and all believers of dear Lebanon. We ask Allah Almighty that the blessed deceased should be shrouded in mercy and gathered with prophet Mohammed and Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and for his family and lovers, I request great patience and reward. There is no power except the power of Allah."
