Al-Halbousi: Parliament supports the outcomes of the tripartite summit

    Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi affirmed today, Thursday, the parliament's support for the outcomes of the tripartite summit, while Jordanian Parliament Speaker Abdel Moneim al-Awdat pointed out the importance of establishing a new phase and formulating cooperation between the two parliaments.

    Al-Halbousi's media office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, received, today, Thursday, his Jordanian counterpart, Abdel Moneim Al-Awdat, and his accompanying delegation at the parliament building," noting that "discussions were held at the parliament headquarters on ways of strengthening bilateral relations, parliamentary diplomacy, cooperation and joint coordination between parliaments.

    The office stated that "the discussions emphasized the importance of the relevant permanent committees in both chambers to continue to overcome obstacles that could stand in the way of the outcomes of the tripartite summit."

    Al-Halbousi stressed "the depth of brotherly relations between Iraq and Jordan," pointing out "the importance of strengthening the bonds of cooperation, to move forward at practical steps that will be reflected in the reality of the two brotherly peoples."

    He added, "The House of Representatives supports the outcomes of the tripartite summit and bilateral agreements between the two countries," noting "the need to facilitate investment procedures and protect investors in both countries."

    Al-Halbousi valued "the support of Jordan and King Abdullah II of Iraq in facing challenges, consolidating bilateral work ties, and cooperating in all fields."

    For his part, the Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives stressed "the importance of establishing a new phase and forging cooperation between the two parliaments," noting that "this visit and the successive visits of His Majesty King Abdullah II are for the official confirmation that Iraq and Jordan constitute a strategic depth for the other."

    He added that "Iraq's security is an integral part of Jordan's security, and that the region does not enjoy stability without the stability of Iraq," explaining that "Iraq presented a heroic model in its war against terrorism in the name of all of us, and we are proud of the victory it has achieved on all levels."

    He stated that "the position of the King and the Jordanian people was, is, and will remain supportive of a stable and united Iraq," pointing to "the Kingdom's support for the democratic process in Iraq and the holding of the upcoming early parliamentary elections."
