Salih: Positive Dialogue Is Needed to Calm Regional Tensions

The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, stressed today, Monday, that the region needs Positive Dialogue to calm its tensions.

The presidency of Republic media office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that President Salih, received at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Baghdad, Mr. Elbrus Kutrashef.

During the meeting, bilateral relations between Iraq and Russia were discussed, with focus on the need to advance and strengthen these ties in the area of security and defense.

Talks focused on how to develop trade, economic and cultural cooperation so as to serve the both nations' ties.

Salih emphasized that Iraq adopts foreign policy that is based on promoting regional security and stability, it is therefore, secure and sovereign Iraq is an anchor for security and peace in the region, he said.
