Babil police arrested an arms dealer and seized a significant cache of weapons, the provincial police command said on Tuesday.
In a statement cited by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the police said the operation was carried out by the Abu Gharq Anti-Crime Division in cooperation with the Directorate of Intelligence and Counter-terrorism.
The statement described the suspect as a prominent arms dealer in the region. Authorities discovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition, including Kalashnikov rifles and magazines, hidden in his home.
The suspect is in custody and faces charges under Article 24 of the Arms Law, police said.
