The Security Media Cell announced today, Sunday, that it had thwarted the detonation of two explosive devices to target logistical support columns in Diwaniyah.
The cell said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency in the Ministry of Interior continues its efforts through field surveys, clearing roads and providing the necessary protection to the logistical support columns on the highway, as it managed to thwart the detonation of a homemade explosive device in Al-Diwaniyah Governorate, specifically near Al-Nakhla Bridge (the housing sector), is connected to a mobile device.
The cell added, "Police operations were contacted and a detachment from the Explosives Control Department went to treat it and detonate it from a distance, and in the meantime the entire place was searched, as another explosive device was also found, 10 meters away from the first device, it was dealt with fundamentally without incident.".
