Ammar Al-Hakim called today, Thursday,  on the United Nations to facilitate the task of international monitoring of elections, while stressing the importance of competing on the basis of programs and providing electoral security .

Al-Hakim's media office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Mr. Ammar Al-Hakim received in his office in Baghdad today, the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Jenin Plaschaert," noting that "there was an exchange of views on developments in the political scene in Iraq and the role of the United Nations." In the upcoming elections, especially the early elections.

Al-Hakim stressed that "the early elections came in response to a popular demand as an outlet for the political tension that Iraq experienced during that period, so it is necessary to adhere to the specific timings on the tenth of next October," calling "the United Nations to facilitate the task of international monitoring in order to give a transparent impression of the nature of the practice." election."

He stressed "the importance of competing on the basis of programs, providing electoral security and giving the candidate and voter an opportunity to choose and express their opinion," urging "everyone to educate the public about the importance of electoral practice and its role in bringing about the desired change."
