The Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, directed today, Sunday, to continue accelerating the procedures for a special amnesty for juvenile children and women.
The Media Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi chaired a meeting that included the Minister of Justice and a number of officials in the government and the Presidency of the Republic, during which they discussed the current conditions of prisons in Iraq, and the Ministry's procedures in implementing Its plans are to develop prisons and make them places for reform and psychological rehabilitation for inmates, and to meet human rights standards.
He added, "Al-Kadhimi directed the Minister of Justice, to follow up on accelerating and facilitating the procedures for special pardon, especially for juvenile children and women, and his sovereignty also stressed the importance of activating the rehabilitation and guidance programs for depositors, which would help in reform, reintegration and rehabilitation socially and educationally."
