PMF thwart an ISIS attempt which planned to assassinate figures in Salah al-Din

The Popular Mobilization announced today, Thursday,  the overthrow of a detachment of terrorist gangs of ISIS, which planned to assassinate figures in Salah al-Din Governorate.

The Popular Mobilization Information Directorate stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Directorate of Security and Discipline in the Popular Mobilization Authority, was able to arrest a large assassination squad belonging to the remnants of the terrorist "ISIS" gangs in Salah al-Din Governorate."
The statement added, "This came during a qualitative and successful operation and based on the security effort of the Directorate, where it was able to arrest the ISIS detachment operating within the so-called Iraq Wilayat "Iraq Province" in the Salah al-Din Governorate sector."
He continued: "This cell was planning to carry out terrorist operations represented in the assassination of political and clan figures and local and government officials within its sector of work, with the aim of confusing the security situation and destabilizing the stability witnessed by the governorate thanks to the cooperation between the Popular Mobilization and the security forces."
He pointed out that "ISIS remnants had previously carried out such terrorist operations with the aim of mixing papers and attempts to stoke sedition and cause racism between the components of the province and the security forces, but the vigilance of the people of the popular mobilazation was on the lookout for them and their malicious criminal schemes."
