    Baghdad - INA - Muhammad Al-Talbi

The Ministry of Health announced today, Friday, that its departments are on the highest levels of preparedness to accommodate the noticeable increase in Corona patients, indicating that the trend will be to provide the Pfizer vaccine, while recommending adherence to preventive measures and taking the vaccine, in order to reduce the number of injuries and control it.

The Director of the Health Promotion Department in the Ministry of Health, Haitham Al-Obaidi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The ministry has now 80 low-cost hospitals, sufficient to absorb the number of injuries, and beds are available, and we can accommodate 12 thousand beds," noting that "the problem is the number of deaths." As the number of injuries increases, the number of deaths increases.

He added, "Many people delay seeing the doctor, and thus the disease worsens for them, and these people are exposed to major complications," noting that "the ministry has isolation capabilities, and owns 12,000 beds to accommodate Corona patients in all of Iraq, and the occupancy of them is only 9 or 10 percent, There is room for the family that is 90 percent empty."

He pointed out that "the health departments in Baghdad and the provinces have taken precautions, and are on the highest level of preparedness," explaining that "this increase was not previously noticed, and if it continues to rise, there may be difficulty in providing the family."

He continued, "But now there is control over the number of infected people, so preventive measures must be adhered to, and the vaccine must be taken."

He explained that "the ministry does not have the ability to diagnose the types of strains in Iraq, as well as in most countries of the world, there is no such possibility," noting that "the infected person is considered infected with the Corona virus, whether it is alternate or not."

He pointed out that "Iraq has not contracted with other companies to purchase the vaccine, meaning that the same vaccines will be used, but the focus will be on the Pfizer vaccine."
